2.5 stars. I think Ms. Duncan has some real potential and I don't want to discourage her. If she did another novel, I would pick it up and give it a chance. Actually I would rate this 2.5. I thought the opening chapters were very strong and was bracing for some serious action and thrills, but by chapter three the pace, plot, and everything else slowed to a crawl and it was as if her story became something completely different than her first three chapters. Her POV switched to a different set of characters that came across very trite and cliche. The villain was the stock corrupt politician, and if you're going to do that type of villain you have to make him\her interesting, or conflicted, or over-the-top bonkers. I found him very banal, and that would have been okay if would have been done on purpose.Product details

I would have given 5 stars except for the blaring typos and truly poor editing. The story itself was very entertaining. I also appreciate the clean language. Tessa was easy to like, and to feel sorry for. She is not the only person to ever put herself in poor circumstances because of bad choices.
Ms. Duncan has terrific story plots and compelling pacing. I would love reading her books, but they need to be edited for punctuation, run-on sentences, and fragments. I'll get very involved in a scene, then have to backtrack for meaning because of unclear word usage, spelling, or one of the previously-mentioned errors. It's a pity to ruin what would otherwise be a fascinating tale.
I had not planned on reading the entire day, but once I started this book. there was no putting it down. I actually only chose this book after reading Betrayed and wanting to read another book by Duncan. In reading what the book was about- a drunk, politics, etc., I had no interest in it but decided to go ahead and read it since it was by the same author. I am SO GLAD I read this! It is an amazing book!
Gripping thriller,to the surprising ending. You'll hate, feel sorry for what Tessa is going thru. How can anyone sink that low. Yet, how would one
cope with the death of a child, only that person would understand. The guilt, the pain, was so very well done. Amazing story. Have brought
this author to the attention to others. For she was a new author for me. Thanks for the free books,,all of them have been great.
Lillian Duncan, I so enjoy your stories. You are so Blessed with your ability to combine stories as you write them with the love and power of God. Can’t wait to start the next story.
This was a fantastic book! I recently read Pursued by Lillian Duncan, and shortly after this book was free! I read it over the weekend, it was a quick read and grabbed me right from the start. A young homeless woman witnesses a crime in a dark alley and is literally running for her life. This was quite a page turner and I enjoyed it very much. The only reason for the four stars was the editing could have been so much better. Keep writing these wonderful suspense stories Lillian!
Great book about how grief can affect our lives,but if we turn to God he will be there and guide others to reach out to help. Story about a young mom that lost her daughter and through her grief where it took her. How others came to her aid when she needed it most, as she has witnessed a murder and is running for her life. Great book well written to keep you in suspense as to what she will do next and who will be there for her.
