I received a free copy from the author. I had the option of reviewing or not.I had a good time reading along with Tom Black, out for his first mission.
Black is a man with his own problems and demons, given a chance to do something for Queen & Country.
Something that he is hoping to use as a redemption.
It seems as if Tom will have someone rooting for him on the side. Sarah is a researcher, data wrangler in the same dept. Only she isn't seeing good things in his future. At least in the way, his boss plans on using Black. The boss certainly seems more than willing to toss Tom out, serving as little more than bloody bait if it will be of use.
I couldn't help but flashing back on the movie Casino Royal. In it, we saw the still human version of 007. Here, we see Black as his humanity is slowly stripped away. A man who is on his way down what will be a lonely one-way road.
I look forward to seeing more of Mr. Black.

A nice quick and entertaining action/adventure type story that fills the pages with suspense and even a possible hint at romance.
Tom Black, a man with a troubled past. Military experiences and family background makes him the perfect man to solve problems.
Tom Black is sent to take out someone who has been dealing with a terrorist. This is his first assignment, so it won't be easy. He runs into a snag but eventually works it out. Juicy little story!
Mike winter provides the reader with a definite winner. It's the start of a series with death and a whole lot of action adventure. A one sitting that keeps you fully engrossed with the story and Tom Black the main character of the series.

This was a very short novel . I don't give negative reviews very often but I believe this author needs more proof readers before he publishes another book . There are some very blatant mistakes that could have been corrected with the proper proof reading . Good effort but need a rewrite .
This was the first time I've read anything by Mike Winter...but it won't be the last! I already have one or two more on my . Our introduction to Tom Black was a fast ride down a narrow road. Think James Bond meets Jason Bourne. This was, indeed, a fast-paced, action-packed thrilling introduction.
The deepest of covert missions.
This suspense thriller moves at a fast clip while defining the characters they are believable, somewhat typical in the genre but far from the usual pack, and interesting; add emotion of several kinds and the story is complete.
A new agent with an especially troubled past is engaged in his first mission, a deadly one. Agent Black's mind is infused with anger emanating from his past but mostly from within. Step-by-step, the reader follows closely behind Black as he approaches the house in which his target lives. With stealth, he enters. All does not go as Balck had planned. The mission, however, is not what he believed it to be. Reviewed by the author of The Children's Story, About Good and Evil.
